Week 2: It Takes Time

Week 2: It Takes Time

This week has been rough, I've been working too much, and then attending the AI Hardware Summit hosted by Synopsys in Mountain View. I definitely did not manage my time all too well.

This week's focus was primarily on completing the draft for the industry analysis paper. A lot of the content from the writing lab encompassed how to write for your audience, paper formating, and peer-reviewing. As for the lecture portion, It's really fascinating that some of the AI-related trends that Mamruzzaman talks about are in line with what is being discussed at the conference I'm attending.  As for the introduction to project management video, it thoroughly explains to you the basics of project management, gives you examples of project management throughout history. Key ideas from this video are: A project must relate to a business strategy, time, goal, and cost make up the project management triple constraint.

Study Skills:

After reading Effective Study Skills by Dr. Bob Kizlik, I can say with certainty that I am good at getting the main idea, extracting important details, and picking out keywords when it comes to reading. On the other hand, I am horrible at making a schedule, managing my schedule, and reviewing the material.

My Activity Log:

Management:

To summarize the three videos, projects fail without proper project management. In order to successfully complete the project, it's important to be able to create a work breakdown structure to organize and define the total scope of the project and use a Gantt chart to show the schedule of the project.

Capstones:

Mirrored Fantasy:

Mirrored Fantasy is an MoBa, which is a multiplayer online battle area game. It was well designed, looked rather complex to design, and I enjoyed the presentation.

PetRecs:

PetRecs is a web app designed to store, track, and manage pet health and medical records. Well thought out project, great web design, and looked as though it worked properly.

SPILLB

SPILLB is a social network for rappers to connect with each other and jam. I would improve the UI by using more accessibility-compliant colors, adding some sort of graphic that shows mic levels to show something is being transmitted. Overall the presentation was flawless.
