Week 7: Faster than I thought

Part One

For our team's Final Research Video Project we essentially picked areas that we were individually responsible for. For my part, I chose to research commonly used tools in cybersecurity. We primarily used Slack to communicate and decided to build our slide deck on google slides as a means to collaborate. So far the process has been smooth although in the future I would try to have shorter/timely goals for research, slide creation, recording, and editing as not to be rushed.

Part Two
As someone who is extremely interested in art and engineering, I chose to review a TED talk by Golan Levin linked below. I found his talk to be intriguing as it brings art and software engineering together to create an artistic project which uses speech recognition and sounds to create shapes. During his presentation, Levin uses slides and videos to support his talk as a means of visual aid for the audience and not support for himself as a script.

For my second video, I decided to review a TED talk by Karoliina Korppoo who talks about how a video game might help us build better cities. She talks about Cities: Skylines which is a city builder video game that allows people to build cities and share with others. She shares a couple of interesting city designs which show fictional cities of different designs. Her talk explores takes a tour of several cities that aim to fulfill human needs which are mirrored in the video game. Korppoo uses video content to support her talk and uses them to support her anecdotes. She is clearly spoken and her talk flows fluidly.

The presentation skills reading/video covered a wide range of topics. For the Life After Death by Powerpoint video, my main takeaway was that presentations should be concise and clear. Things like excessive graphics, weird fonts, and animations can be distracting and should be minimal.
